<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize low noise and low crosstalk for a magneto-optical data- storage medium when a narrow track pitch is employed. <P>SOLUTION: At least a recording layer, magnetic mask layer and optical mask layer are arranged in this order. By irradiation with a light beam from the side of the optical mask layer, the magnetization of the magnetic mask layer is oriented in one direction by an external magnetic field to form a magnetic mask in a low-temperature region, the optical mask layer is transferred to a metal to form an optical mask in a high-temperature region, and the magnetization of the recording layer is transferred to the magnetic mask layer in a medium temperature region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
