PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing polymer fibers having different transmission characteristics by a simple method. SOLUTION: In the method for coating a long extending molded article (8) for transmitting a light as an optical signal and made from a polymer material, a polymer material layer having a lower refractive index than the molded element (8) is provided around the molded element (8). A gas (4) or a gas mixture containing halogen is converted into plasma (6) in a chamber (1) under an action of a microwave (5) so as to generate the layer, and transmitted from the chamber (1) through a nozzle (7). The molded element (8) moves in a region of the nozzle (7) or the plasma (6) flowing from the nozzle along a coating apparatus (A) in the full length more than once.
