PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive motor for a motor-assisted bicycle which can be reduced in size, and of which characteristics can be properly maintained, while being configured so as to allow easy wiring to the motor. SOLUTION: A stator yoke 20 of the motor is formed by laminating thin steel plates 22, a magnet 21 is inserted to a magnet insertion hole formed at the stator yoke 20, and a rotor 17 is turnably arranged inside the hole. The stator yoke 20 is sandwiched by right and left fixing-side casings 19 by a screw 18. When a part of the fix-side casing 19 is formed, casing-mount screw holes 23 are formed at midpoints between adjacent stator poles 21, 21, thus avoiding an increase in magnetic resistance by securing a prescribed magnetic path area since there is no need for boring a hole in the middle of a magnetic path having a high magnetic density, and preventing a decrease in the characteristics of the motor.
