PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment apparatus for painting, which can save the space by simplifying of treatment steps, improves the productivity, and can reduce costs of facilities and treating agents, the number of the treatment steps, and a waste water treatment. SOLUTION: This pretreatment apparatus for painting comprises the treatment tank 1 to be filled with a degreasing and chemical conversion treatment liquid, the first circulatory system 11 for circulating the degreasing and chemical conversion treatment liquid in the treatment tank and returning it to the treatment tank, a dust removal unit 2 arranged in the circulatory system, for removing the dust contained in the degreasing and chemical conversion treatment liquid, a chemical conversion sludge removal unit 3 arranged in the circulatory system, for removing the chemical conversion sludge contained in the degreasing and chemical conversion treatment liquid, an oil removal unit 4 arranged in the circulatory system, for removing the oil contained in the degreasing and chemical conversion treatment liquid, a treatment-liquid supply tank arranged in the circulatory system, for supplying the fresh degreasing and chemical conversion treatment liquid in the treatment tank, a water-polar organic solvent separator 5 arranged in the circulatory system, for separating polar organic solvent from water component in the degreasing and chemical conversion treatment liquid and returning the polar organic solvent component to the circulatory system, and an ion removal unit 7 arranged in the circulatory system, for removing an ion component from the water component separated by the water-polar organic solvent separator, and returning rest water to the treatment-liquid supply tank 6.
