PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the common problem in a number of systems for electrostatic motors, where for switching voltage polarities, or for keeping a high voltage, a set of a power supply unit must be used in supplying electrical energy from the outside. SOLUTION: An electron discharge electrical field, or an electric field which proximates corona discharge start electric field but which is smaller than that, is formed between a stator 1A (electric field forming electrode) and a stator 1B (electric charge generation electrode). A moving piece 2 is made to approach to the stator 1B; an electric field between the mover and the stator is made larger than the field for electron discharge or a corona discharge start; electrons are discharged from the stator 1B or corona discharge is generated between the mover and the stator; and the moving piece 2 electrostatically charged with the electrons or corona ions is moved to a stator 1C (electric charge collecting electrode) and the charged electric charge is discharged to the stator 1C. In these steps above, the difference between image forces of the stator 1C, that acts on the charged electrical charge and the stator 1B, is used as the mechanical energy, thus eliminating the need for a power supply.
