PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce work in a narrow space between a supporting structure and a seismically isolated structure to the utmost by improving installability of a uniaxial vibration absorber for absorbing uniaxial relative vibrations of a structure to be supported and the supporting structure. SOLUTION: A uniaxial vibration absorbing unit is equipped with: a hatch 34 which is demountably mounted in a mounting port 32 formed in such a manner as to pass through a wall, a floor 10, etc., of the structure 10 to be supported; a locking plate 36 which is provided in a state of facing the hatch 34 and locked to the side of the supporting structure 6; center guides 38 which are provided in a midsection between the locking plate 36 and the hatch 34, are mutually slid and engaged with each other, and allow uniaxial relative displacements of the locking plate 36 and the hatch 34, so as to guide movements of the locking plate 36 and the hatch 34; a spring member 40 which is provided in an outer peripheral part of the center guide 38 in a state of being interposed between the locking plate 36 and the hatch 34; and damping members 62 which are provided in such a manner that both ends are locked to the locking plate 36 and the hatch 34. The hatch 34 is inserted for fixation to the structure 10 from the side of the locking plate 36 via the mounting port 32, which is formed in such a manner as to pass through the structure 10, so as to be capable of being easily mounted.
