<p>A catalyst carrier structural body capable of remarkably increasing the purification performance of catalyst for exhaust emission control by remarkably increasing the absolute volume and surface area of ceramic material for catalyst carrier or functional ceramic material for each unit space volume of the catalyst carrier structural body and providing a sufficient strength, comprising a plurality of ceramic wire material layers and a plurality of spacer layers used for the catalyst for exhaust emission control and disposed alternately each other, characterized in that the ceramic wire material layers are formed of a plurality of ceramic wire materials coming into contact with each other and extending parallel with each other and substantially formed of catalyst carrier material, the spacer layers are formed of a plurality of wire material spacers extending parallel with each other with intervals provided therebetween, the spacers are disposed in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which the ceramic wire materials extend and parallel with the flowing direction of exhaust emission, and the spaces communicate with each other in one direction to form an exhaust emission flow passage.</p> |
