The invention concerns cleaning a material jet spray head (1) comprising, outside material jet spray cycles, a cleaning cycle comprising steps which consist in: a) providing an absorbent member (3); b) providing a wiper (9); c) reaching a position, called initial cleaning position, wherein at least a section of the absorbent member (3), is interposed between the wiper member (9) and the material outlet device (11), the absorbent member (3) and the wiper member (9) thus forming a cleaning assembly; d) causing a relative displacement along a cleaning plane (X;Y) substantially perpendicular to the elevation direction (Z), between the cleaning assembly and the material outlet device (11) so that the wiper member (9) scrapes the material outlet device (11) substantially simultaneously with absorption by the absorbent member.
