The invention concerns a chemical treatment for reducing the sulfur present in catalytic gasoline and intermediate crude oil distillations by means of sulfur absorption in silica get packed in a filter or filter train operating at the outlet pressure of the production streams of catalyti c gasoline and intermediate crude oil distillation, provided with processes for the prior reduction of sulfur.
