A strobe apparatus comprises a transformer section (14) for transforming the power source voltage of a power source section, a charging section (16) consisting of a main capacitor (17) for storing electrical energy supplied from this transformer section (14), a light emitting section (4) comprising a flash discharge tube (20) inserted into a reflection shade (19) and emitting light while consuming the stored energy of the main capacitor (17) by impressing voltage on a trigger electrode (21), and a trigger circuit section (10) for generating a voltage to be impressed on the trigger electrode (21), and is characterized in that at least the light emitting section (4) is coated with an insulating substance.
