A carrier comprising an aerogel (2), made by supercritical drying and having its spatial structure loaded with an active agent (1), is decomposable with a solvent (10) to release the active agent at the required location. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the loaded carrier by adsorption of an active agent (1) over 0.1-20 hours during and/or after supercritical drying to form the aerogel.
