Hydraulic servo-assisted steering system for motor vehicles stores actual valve characteristic curves in groups while preparing flow characteristic curves for a magnetic actuator in a converter to match the valve curves

A driver uses a steering wheel (1) to enter each steering command as input moment. Steering commands are transferred via a flexible steering shaft (2) to a hydraulic steering valve (3) that relies on torque through its rotary slide valve design to trigger a servo final control element (4) in order to use torque and speed as well as preset parameters to adapt steering force exerted on the steering wheel and transferred via a steering gearing mechanism (5). Independent claims are also included for a method for adjusting hydraulic servo-assisted steering i.e. for compensating for variations caused through process tolerances and for a testing method for compensating for an actual and scheduled valve characteristic line in relation to a preset driving speed.
