A method for consolidating foundation soils or for lifting very heavy or ver y large structures requiring the application of a pressure of more than 500 kP a, which consists in injecting into the soil to be consolidated or into the soi l below the foundations of the structure to be lifted substances which expand as a consequence of a chemical reaction and are suitable to generate, during expansion, a pressure of more than 500 kPa.
