<p>A method of constructing a spinal injury model monkey which comprises exposing the cervical spinal cord dura mater of a monkey and applying a load on the dura mater; the spinal injury model monkey thus constructed; and a method of evaluating a remedy for spinal injury with the use of this model. According to the above method, it is possible to construct a model monkey which is close to humans and useful as a human spinal injury model. Use of this model makes it possible to appropriately evaluate the therapeutic effects of various drugs on spinal injury. By using this model, it has been confirmed for the first time that transplantation of human nerve stem cell is efficacious against spinal injury.</p> |
