The railway carriage body, especially for rail passengers, has an inner layer (1) and an outer layer (2), each of a compound fiber material to define the carriage interior. Intermediate layers (5,6) are between the inner and outer layers. A portion of the fibers in the inner and outer layers penetrate through the intermediate layers, to bond them together. The carriage body has at least one ring frame rib (6), of a compound fiber material, forming part of the intermediate layers. The fibers in the inner and outer layers are aligned parallel to the longitudinal line of the carriage. The fibers of glass and/or carbon are laid in a negative mold, as a tubular body skeleton with the door and window openings, and the mold is filled with a paste and/or liquid bonding material together with a fire protection agent to make up the compound body shell.
