A method for mounting a spare wheel inside a vehicle has the wheel (13) fitted to a bracket (2) via a support (12) and with the bracket having a bend zone (11) near one end. This causes the wheel to be displaced during a collision as the crush zone around the wheel absorbs the impact. One end of the bracket is secured on a hinge (6) fitting while the other end (9) has a rigid fitting. The ends of the wheel support bracket are supported on the wheel arch and on the rear of the body shell. |
