An electric stapler, wherein a click stop mechanism having a clincher unit (103) and a driver unit (104) rotatably mounted thereon fixedly at 0°or 45°rotating position is mounted on two slide bases (106) running, in synchronism with each other, on linear guides (105) vertically disposed parallel with each other, claw parts (119, 120) corresponding to 0°and 45°rotating positions are installed on the outer peripheral parts of the click stop mechanisms, a stopper pin (121) is disposed in a running route, when the driver unit and the clincher unit are run from an initial position to a diagonal binding position, the 0°claw part (119) comes into contact with the stopper pin (121) and the driver unit and the clincher unit are rotated and fixed to the 45°rotating position, and when these units are run reversely to the initial position, the 45°claw part (120) comes into contact with the stopper pin (121) and is returned and fixed to 0°position.
