PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically and safely producing cyclopropane carbonitrile industrially in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method comprises reacting cyclopropane carboaldehyde oxime with an acetic anhydride to obtain a mixed solution containing acetic acid and the cyclopropane carbonitrile, and removing the acetic acid from the mixed solution through azeotropic distillation by using a solvent which azeotropically boils with the acetic acid and has an azeotropic point with the acetic acid, which point is lower than the boiling point of the cyclopropane carbonitrile.
