PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical plastic having excellent optical properties (high transparency, high refractive index, and high Abbe's number), good thermal properties and mechanical properties (impact resistance), and high productivity capable of polymerizing and molding to a hardened article in a short time. SOLUTION: This polymerizable composition comprises (a) a polymerizable compound and (b) a polymerization initiator as essential components. The polymerizable compound contains (a-1) an acrylic acid ester compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and may form a ring by linking each other, R<SB>3</SB>represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, X<SB>1</SB>represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, m represents an integer of 0 to 3 and n represents an integer of 1 to 4) and (a-2) an acrylic acid ester compound having at least one hydroxyl group in a molecule.
