<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lipolysis promoter and a body slenderizing method effective for ameliorating adipogenic constitution by promoting decreasing systemic or local adipose tissue or inhibiting or preventing obesity by preventing increase of the adipose tissue. <P>SOLUTION: This lipolysis promoter is shown by the general formula (1) (wherein, R is H, a saturated or unsaturated straight- or branched-chain 1-12C hydrocarbon group, glucose residue, quinic acid residue or shikimic acid residue; and a wavy line denotes a single or double bond).
