PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new episulfide compound which is useful as the raw material of optical materials having a high refractive index and Abbe's number, and also provide a method for producing the compound efficiently. SOLUTION: The episulfide compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein n is an integer of 0 to 2) and the production method thereof in which the compound represented by general formula (1) is produced by the reaction of an episulfide compound having a mercapto group with 2,4,6-trimethylene-1,3,5- trithiane are provided.
