PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ophthalmic solution which minimizes toxicity to the living body as much as possible, assures a sufficiently high degree of safety and actualizes excellent germicidal and preservative effect. SOLUTION: In this ophthalmic solution comprising at least one germicidal or preservative component of biguanides and quaternary ammonium salts, the solution contains at least one of an amino acid having≥4 isoelectric point and≥89 molecular weight, its salt or its derivative and is adjusted to 0-0.2 wt.% sodium chloride and 0-0.5 wt.% phosphate.
