PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a printer with a scanner in which a handwritten character, a type, lettering, or the like can be taken into a printer easily to form a font. SOLUTION: Image data is inputted from a scanner 116 connected with a printer internally or externally, a read-out image is registered in a font ROM 105 as font data and a character code is sent from a host unit at the time of selecting a font so that an image is read out from the font ROM 105 and printed.
