PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head in which multilevel halftoning can be realized by adjusting the size of an ink drop being ejected from a nozzle freely, thereby controlling the dot diameter. SOLUTION: An ink jet recording head has an opening for ejecting a recording liquid drop, a nozzle communicating with the ejection opening, a means provided in the nozzle for ejecting recording liquid in the nozzle as a liquid drop, and a chamber communicating with the nozzle and supplying the recording liquid to the nozzle, and records an image by driving a recording means selectively by a recording signal, thereby ejecting a recording liquid drop to a recording medium. The head is further provided with an electrode disposed at a position touching the recording liquid in order to charge the recording liquid being ejected, an electrostatic force (electric field) generating means disposed oppositely to the ejection opening in order to deform a meniscus stretching at the recording liquid ejection opening part, and an electrostatic force (electric field) control means.
