PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely maintain a negative pressure in a foam chamber during a printable time period. SOLUTION: This ink cartridge is comprised of an ink chamber for containing ink, the foam chamber which communicates with the ink chamber through a communication hole and accommodates a porous material for absorbing the ink, and ink supply hole for supplying the ink to a recording head through the porous material, a vessel which maintains the ink chamber and the foam chamber in a negative pressure condition and has a ventilating hole 41 communicating with the atmospheric air when using the cartridge, and an air- impermeable seal material 42 which is integrally formed of a body and a tongue section 45 for peeling and openably closes the ventilating hole 41.
