PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throw away grooving tool which is capable of performing precise machining by improving the positional accuracy of a tip cutting edge, and is capable of suppressing chatter and the like, and has a holder for holding tips having different shapes regardless of their tip shapes. SOLUTION: In the throw away grooving tool 1 which has a tip mounting portion 3 having a lower seating surface 3A and a rear seating surface 3B and elongating in the longitudinal direction, and fixes a tip 4 inserted into the tip mounting portion 3, the rear seating surface 3B of the tip mounting portion 3 is a flat surface having a step 7 projecting forward in the depths of the rear seating surface 3B, and the tip 4 is provided with the cutout portions 8a, 8b, which fit onto the step 7 of the rear seating surface 3B, at the symmetrical positions with respect to a center line 4A of the tip 4, and cutting edges 10a, 10b at both tip ends of the cutout tip 4. The tip 4 is inserted into the tip mounting portion 3 so that a tip end 9a projects from the tip end of the holder 2. The tip 4 is clamped by a clamp plate 5 which covers the lower seating surface 3A, the rear seating surface 3B, and the upper surface of the tip 4, and is integrally provided on the holder 2.
