PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste water containing fluorine ions, capable of effectively utilizing valuable metals such as iron, chromium, nickel, etc., contained in the waste water, recycling not only hydrofluorine acid and nitric acid but also an alkali solution separated in the treatment process, and also discharging virtually no waste, thereby contributing to resource- saving and energy-saving as well. SOLUTION: This method for treating the waste water containing the fluorine ions is characterized by comprising (a) a process wherein the waste water containing the fluorine ions is neutralized with an alkali solution, and then filtered and separated into a neutralized solution containing the fluorine ions and sludge containing metal hydroxides and no fluorine ions, (b) a process wherein the neutralized solution containing the fluorine ions is separated into an acidic solution containing the fluorine ions and an alkali solution through an acid-alkali separation process, (c) a process wherein the alkali solution separated in the (b) process is reused as the alkali solution in the (a) process, and (d) a process wherein the acidic solution containing the fluorine ions is concentrated.
