PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitching machine and a batting center which improves the level of entertainment by allowing a player to choose his/her favorite virtual pitcher freely and achieves uniformity of the rate of operation of each batting space. SOLUTION: The virtual pitching machine 20, comprising an imaging device 20a showing a picture of a virtual pitcher by directive signals from an operational box and a ball dispensing device 20b placed adjacently to the imaging device and pitching balls by synchronizing with the pitching motion of the virtual pitcher, has images of a plurality of virtual pitchers contained in the imaging device 20a and allows a player to choose his/her favorite virtual pitcher among the images of the plurality of the virtual pitchers with directive signals from an operational box 10.
