PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical plastic that solves a fault of a conventional optical plastic, has excellent productivity capable of polymerizing and molding in a short time, good thermal properties and mechanical properties, as well as high refractive index. SOLUTION: An acrylic ester compound represented by general formula (1) [wherein, a represents an integer of 0 to 4, R<SB>1</SB>represents a direct single bond, and an alkylene group, an aralkylene group and an arylene group which may have a substituent, or -Y<SB>3</SB>-S-R<SB>4</SB>-S-Y<SB>4</SB>-group (R<SB>4</SB>represents an alkylene group, aralkylene group or arylene group, Y<SB>3</SB>and Y<SB>4</SB>each independently represent an alkylene group, R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>each independently represent H or an alkyl group, X<SB>1</SB>and X<SB>2</SB>each represent O or S, and Y<SB>1</SB>and Y<SB>2</SB>each represent an alkylene group which may contain O or S], a polymerizable composition containing the acrylic ester compound and a hardened article obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable composition as well as an optical part.
