PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation which has a synergistically improved whitening action, exhibits a sufficient whitening effect when formulated into a cosmetic, has excellent safety, and does not largely affect sensuality such as senses of use. SOLUTION: This skin care preparation contains the plant body of Tamarix chinensis or its solvent extract, and a whitening agent (for example, a hydroquinone glycoside and its derivatives, L-ascorbic acid and its derivatives, tranexamic acid and its derivatives, salicylic acid and its derivatives, resorcinol and its derivatives, glutathione, kojic acid, and ellagic acid) or a whitening action-having galenical (for example, a galenical originated from a plant such as Zingiber aromaticum, Equisetum giganteum, Solanum paniculatum, Saxifraga stolonifera, Sutellaria baicalensis, Isodon japonicus, Curuma Ionga, Sophora flavescens, Uncaria gambir, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Eriobotrya, japonica, and Matricaria chamomilla).
