PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a partitioning glass material for a flat panel display usable for PDP or the like, especially an inexpensive material provided with similar characteristic as a lead-containing low temperature fired glass. SOLUTION: This glass material comprises silicon oxide, barium oxide and boron oxide as principal components, including 6 to 16 mass% silicon oxide, 38 to 66 mass% barium oxide and the balance boron oxide, in which the principal component composition is selected from a region with≤1,000°C liquidus and where no phase separation occurs, and further comprises at least a kind of oxide selected from alkali metal oxides and alkaline earth metal oxides in an amount≤10 pts.mass to 100 pts.mass of the principal component composition.
