PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a mechanism while facilitating going up and down the stairs for a wheelchair or the like (the wheelchair, a baby carriage, a walking aid, a load carrier, or the like). SOLUTION: A drive pin and a guide roller are projected sideways from a horizontal support base of the wheelchair or the like, and a first guide groove for the drive pin, and a second guide groove for the guide roller are formed at a vertical wall of a guide support device. The drive pin is driven on the lower side of a drive chain, and the drive pin is vertically reciprocated to allow the position of the drive pin to approach the ground plane. In a second invention, horizontal extension parts are formed at the first guide groove, second guide groove and drive chain of the guide support device, and an electric motor is positioned below an elevating passage of the horizontal support base of the wheelchair or the like. In a third invention, a safety device is provided for impeding reverse rotation and overspeed fall to the abnormality of a drive mechanism such as cutting of the drive chain of an elevating driving device. In a fourth invention, the drive pin is separated from the guide groove to remove the horizontal support base of the wheelchair or the like from the stairs so as to be usable as the ordinary stairs.
