PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating liquid for forming an ink receiving layer used for manufacturing a sheet for recording with the ink receiving layer on which no ink spreading is generated and density is uniform and printing can be clearly performed and by which a printed matter with excellent water resistance, weatherability and color fading resistance and with enough strength can be obtained, and the sheet for recording with the ink receiving layer.

SOLUTION: In the coating liquid for forming the ink receiving layer in which a silica particle with a core-shell structure consisting of a core particle and a shell part covering the surface and a binder are dispersed in a solvent consisting of water and/or an organic solvent, the coating liquid for forming the ink receiving layer is characterized by the shell part comprising a silica ingredient containing an organic group directly bound with silicon.
