<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit for a vehicle which outputs a sufficient driving force. <P>SOLUTION: A high-power generator 44 for driving is driven by an engine 20. A direct-current motor 30 is directly driven by energy from the generator 44. A control circuit 60 for output voltage of the generator for driving controls the motor 30 by controlling output voltage of the generator 44 by means of control of the magnetic field current of the motor in accordance with a driving force required by the vehicle. A driving force generated by the motor 30 is controlled by means of control of magnetic field current of the motor 30. When an output property exceeding that of the motor alone is required, the magnetic field current of the motor 30 is controlled in addition to control of the magnetic field current of the generator 44. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
