PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for automatically packaging a food container such as a cup or a tray without damage such as breakage of a packaging material which becomes the cause for the mixing in of foreign matters in order to eliminate such problems that in a process for automatically packaging a product such as a cup or a tray for a plastic food container, breakage or perforation of the packaging material is generated due to thinning of the packaging material or the diversification of container shapes, and the mixture of foreign matters such as hair or dust becomes notable. SOLUTION: Causes for the breakage or the perforation of the packaging material are mainly the breakage in a process to insert the food containers such as the cups or the trays, and the perforation at the time of sealing. As means to solve this problem, one section of a tubular film which is the packaging material is sealed and cut to form an end section, and then, the containers are packaged. Also, the sealed end is kept as a free end in the process wherein the containers are inserted. In addition, when the tubular film is sealed and cut, the tubular film is kept under a pressed state by a turning-up preventing tool. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
