PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for activating plasma prekallikrein, activating the plasma prekallikrein to produce plasma kalliklein in the absence of FXIIa of the known plasma prekallikrein activator, and to provide a method for screening medicines by using the new method. SOLUTION: This method for activating plasma prekalliklein in the absence of FXIIa comprises using a plasma prekallikrein activator selected from a group consisting of heat shockprotein 90 (HSP 90), phosphoric acid and their mixture. By applying the method, activity (promotion or prevention), of a test drug, for plasma kalliklein production in the absence of FXIIa is measured, wherein the test drug is an analgesic, an antiallergic, an antiinflammatory or the like.
