PURPOSE: To miniaturize and simplify a door operating mechanism arranged in an air conditioner for a vehicle, which has a function of partitioning the air passage of a heat exchanger for heating into a front seat passage and a rear seat passage to enable the separate control of the temperature of air blown out on the front seat side and on the rear seat side. CONSTITUTION: On the air outlet side of the heat exchanger for heating 13, a directional control door 70 is arranged for partitioning the air passage of the heat exchanger 13 for heating into the front seat passage 16 and the rear seat passage 17. The directional control door 70 is operated to be set to a partitioning position, at which the front seat passage 16 is partitioned off from the rear seat passage 17, and to a position for shutting off the rear seat side, at which the rear seat passage 17 is shut off to turn the whole of the air passage of the heat exchanger 13 into the front seat passage. The directional control door 70 and an air mix door for rear seat 21 are linked to a common operating mechanism (58, 21b, 70b) and are operated in an interlocked manner.
