PURPOSE: A device for controlling a car video system is provided to connect a video cassette player with a distribution part without operating a main television when a cover is closed, thereby removing the inconvenience to open or close the cover and reduce the unnecessary power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling a car video system includes a main television(50) having a cover sensing element(51) for sensing the closed state of a cover, a control element(52) for outputting a control signal as a cover-closed state signal is received from the cover sensing element, an AV switching part(53) for transmitting a signal input from a video cassette player(10) to a distribution part(30) which transmits signals input from the main television to a plurality of auxiliary televisions, as the control signal is input from the control element, and other collateral television circuits.
