PURPOSE: Provided is a prismatic secondary battery, wherein a case is compressed so as to have predetermined shape when the battery is mechanically compressed, and the battery secures the stability after compressed. CONSTITUTION: The battery comprises a pole plate assembly formed by disposing a separator between cathode plate and anode plate and winding the plates; a case body(30) which has at least one openings(31) so as to accept the assembly and shows a rectangular tube shape having long side(30a) and short side(30b); a cap plate which is adhered to the opening and seals the battery; and a groove part(32) which is formed on at least one of the long and short sides along length direction of the case body.
