PURPOSE: Gas compression structure of a reciprocating compressor is provided to extend the life span of parts, and to improve efficiency by minimizing wear of a piston and a cylinder and friction loss with reducing the contact area between the piston and the cylinder. CONSTITUTION: A gas compressor comprises a cylinder(50) installed in a frame with a through hole for forming the compression space; a piston(120) movably inserted to the through hole of the cylinder; a reciprocating motor(30) installed in the frame to connect a mover of a reciprocating motor(30) generating driving force for linear reciprocating motion and the piston; a suction valve(140) opening and closing a suction passage(122) sucking gas into the compression space of the cylinder; and a discharge valve unit(70) combined with the cylinder to discharge compressed gas. Wear of the piston and the cylinder and frictional loss are minimized.
