METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENCODING/DECODING KEY DATA

PURPOSE: A method and system for encoding/decoding key data are provided to compress animation key data with high efficiency by removing redundancy of data in consideration of properties of key data. CONSTITUTION: An encoding system includes a DND computing unit(250), a shift-up calculator, a differential data selector, and an entropy encoder(260). The DND computing unit performs DND computation by a predetermined number of times. The DND computation carries out divide-up calculation for reducing the range of differential data located in a negative number area or divide-down calculation for decreasing the range of differential data placed in a positive number area, to reduce the range of input differential data. The shift-up calculator moves the range of the DND-computed differential data to a positive number of negative number. The differential data selector selectively outputs the DND-computed differential data or shift-up differential data. The entropy encoder entropy-encodes the differential data selected by the differential data selector.
