PURPOSE: A portable repeater, and a payment system using the same are provided to repeat the credit card data of a customer to a credit card processor or a POS(Point Of Sale) terminal, located away from the current position of the customer, via an infrared signal or an RF(Radio Frequency) signal. CONSTITUTION: The portable repeater(10) comprises a card reader(12) and a payment data transceiver(11). The card reader(12) receives the credit card data. The payment data transceiver(11) receives payment data from a payment terminal of a customer or communicates data with a credit card payment processor. The portable repeater(10) also includes a power switch(14), a key pad(13), a display(15), a memory and a controller. The memory temporarily stores the payment data transmitted via the transceiver(11) or via the card reader(12). The controller controls a transmission of the temporarily stored payment data to a payment processing terminal such as a credit card payment processor or a POS terminal according to an operation of the keypad. |
