PURPOSE: A DVR system with a remote backup function is provided to secure the monitoring data of a field by using backup files at a remote place when data files of field computers for monitoring a place are lost by accidents. CONSTITUTION: A DVR system with a remote backup function includes a field unit and a remote unit. The field unit includes a plurality of camera blocks(30), and a plurality of field computers(10) connected to the camera blocks respectively for converting photographed analog image signals into digital signals and storing the signals after compression. The remote unit includes a remote computer(70) connected to the field unit via communication networks(50,60) for receiving the compressed signals of digital motion pictures, and an auxiliary storing element(90) for storing the compressed digital motion picture signals from the remote computer into backup files. The remote computer controls and manages the selection and the performance of the operations of the field computers.
