PURPOSE: A method for preparing a filled halobutyl elastomer and a filled halobutyl elastomer composition prepared by the method are provided, to improve the durability and the scorch safety. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of mixing a halobutyl elastomer, a filler particle, an organic compound having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one basic nitrogen-containing group and at least one hydrated metal halogen compound; and curing the obtained filled butyl elastomer. The basic nitrogen-containing group is preferably an amino group, and more preferably a primary amino group. Preferably the organic compound is an amino acid or an amino alcohol. Preferably the metal halogen compound is a metal bromide or a metal chloride.
