PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube is provided to improve the color purity by forming a shadow mask with a circular shape, an oval shape, and an inclined elliptic shape. CONSTITUTION: A color cathode ray tube includes a panel, a neck portion, a funnel, and a shadow mask(26). A phosphor screen is formed on an inner face of the panel. A dot type phosphor is coated on the phosphor screen. An electron gun is mounted at the neck portion. A deflection yoke is mounted on an outer circumference of the funnel in order to deflect electron beams emitted from the electron. The funnel is used for connecting the panel with the neck portion. The shadow mask is formed with a circular shape and an oval shape. The shadow mask has a plurality of beam passing holes(H1,H2,H3,H4) for sorting colors of the electron beams emitted from the electron gun.
