PURPOSE: An apparatus for braking the strip looping system is provided to prevent the whole operation line from stopping, when the loop wire is broken, so as to minimize massive facility trouble and the repair time, resulting in increase of productivity. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for braking the strip looping system comprises a wire breakage sensing unit(70) installed at a front upper area of the braking apparatus body(100); a loop car separating unit(80) having pin wires(31a,31b) wound on pin wire drums(25a,25b) axially connected with a weight roll pinion(23) fixed to an upper surface of the braking apparatus so as to be connected to a weight roll axle(20) of the wire breakage sensing part by means of gear and fixing pins(29a,29b) for connecting connection axle(11a) of the braking apparatus(100) and connection axles(10a,10b) of the loop car(4); a lower slide(42b) connected to a wire grip roll(40b) of which one end is fixed to a stopping hook operating rack(43) engaged with a stopping hook operating pinions(44a) rotatably fixed at an upper part of the braking apparatus connection axle(11a) connected with the connection axle(10a,10b) of the loop car separating unit(80) and of which other end is connected to the wire grip roll(40b) for moving upward on the lower sliding base(41b) of the braking apparatus body(100); an upper slide(42a) moving downward on the upper sliding base of the braking apparatus body(100) above the lower slide(42b) and connected to the wire grip roll(40a) at the other end; and a stopping hook(50) installed at a lower part of the loop car(4) so as to be connected with the stopper(57) formed in the middle of the running rail(7) by means of the stopping hook wire(47) wound around the stopping hook operating pinions(44a,44b).
