PURPOSE: A method for informing of receiving in a portable terminal is provided to measure noise strength, and to simultaneously operate vibrations if the noise strength is more than a reference level, then to stop the vibrations if the noise strength is less than the reference level, thereby increasing a receiving recognition rate of a user. CONSTITUTION: When a receiving call is generated(S100), a controller decides whether a receiving mode is a vibration or a bell sound(S110). If the mode is set to the bell sound, the controller sets a noise measurement timer(S120), and outputs the bell sound. After a certain time elapses(S130), the controller decides whether a terminal state is a call state(S140). If not, the controller sets a timer to periodically measure noise(S150), and measures the noise(S160). The controller decides whether the measured noise is more than a reference level(S170). If so, the controller operates the vibration(S180). A certain time set on the timer elapses(S190).
