The synthesis of piezoelectric lead titanate zirconate based materials comprises modification with 6-10% of Nd3+ moles, with drying of the precursor powders by lyophilization. Calcining and sintering of the precursor powders gives Nd:Zr:Ti 6:53:47, 10:58:42, 10:36:64 and 10:35:65 molar stoichiometric ratio materials for e.g. use in telecommunications.
