The invention concerns a photonic crystal structure for guided propagation, said structure comprising: a guide portion Wn, n being a positive or null real number, having a first configuration of pattern rows (4); a guide portion Wm, m being a real number, m > n, having a second configuration of pattern rows, and a transition zone of extent D located between the guide portion Wn and the guide portion Wm, wherein the patterns aligned (t1, t2) with at least a row of patterns of the first configuration decrease in size over the extent D to enable the gradual shift from the first configuration of pattern rows to the second configuration of pattern rows.
