The invention relates to a flexible tube intravenous catheter which is intended for use in infirmaries. The inventive catheter comprises two cylindrical chambers (1 and 2) which are inserted one inside the other and which can rotate a half-turn in relation to one another. According to the invention, the needle which punctures the vein (3) is very short and is sealed at the rear part thereof. Moreover, said needle is provided with a groove equal to that of the flexible tube (8), by means of which it is moved. At present, once the needle has punctured the vein, it is discarded. In this case, however, the needle remains inside the catheter housed in a clamp which can move and act as a flow regulator and autovalve; preventing the outflow of blood and regulating the passage of fluids with precision. When a serum is connected, the clamp moves forwards in order to open the valve and automatically closes same upon removal of said serum. The flow is regulated by rotating the two chambers in relation to one another. Given that no blood-contaminated needles are discarded, said catheter prevents accidents and infections.
